Description
We may know that patience is a virtue, but it isn’t always easy to live out. However, it is a very powerful and disarming response to conflict. When we are able to respond in a way that is quiet and peaceful—not challenging or defensive—we find favor with God and reap the benefits that come with choosing a Christlike response.
How long did God have to wait for you to turn to Him? God patiently waits for us, so we have no right to get impatient with others. In this message, Dr. Stanley shares with us the spiritual obligation of patience and how the Lord expects us to express it by:
- Being quiet
- Praying
- Controlling our thoughts
- Controlling our emotions
- Refraining from forcing our opinion on someone else
- Listening without responding
- Forgiving others
- Sharing encouraging words
Expressing patience daily involves a commitment to responding with love and peace, but there’s also a long-term willingness to wait on God that we must work towards. When we are patient, we learn to abide by the Lord’s timing, trust His eternal perspective, and rest in His love for us.
So be patient with all people—and with God—to receive His favor and the blessings that come from this powerful virtue.
