Description
Has somebody hurt you—yesterday, a year ago, a lifetime ago? You didn’t deserve it, and you can’t forget it. The pain remains in your heart and memory, stuck there like concrete. And just when you think it’s all over and gone, it crops back up again. It sits and festers, oozing poison into your life spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Deep, hurtful memories aren’t healed simply by time. In this message, Dr. Stanley talks about what it takes to forgive past hurts. In truth, it’s a painful process, and there’s no Band-Aid to make it better. But once you deal with your injury, you can find healing.
Dr. Stanley focuses primarily on two issues:
1. Hurts we don’t deserve often give birth to an unforgiving spirit. It’s a harmful condition in which to live, and it spreads to other areas of our lives. We can slowly become bitter and hateful without realizing it. Dr. Stanley will help you determine if this has happened to you and give direction on how to address this problem.
2. How to forgive. Forgiveness isn’t justifying someone’s sins toward you, and it isn’t excusing or denying their wrongful actions. It’s about canceling the debt the other person owes you and not holding his sins against him.
Since confronting the other person face to face isn’t always possible or wise, we need to know how to forgive people even if they are unaware of their actions toward us. Dr. Stanley includes a process that can help you forgive any person, alive or deceased.
Once you’ve forgiven the offender, you’ll be able to experience wonderful results: the healing of old memories, the loss of an enemy, the chance to experience freedom, and the potential for reconciliation.
