Description
Many of us sit around wishing we could change our circumstances, but, the truth is, we can’t. Instead, we have a choice to make—we can live under the weight of our circumstances or rise above them and become better people as a result.
In this message, Dr. Stanley teaches us how to live righteously during difficult situations. He proposes three things we can do to accomplish this.
Learn how to keep our eyes on Christ rather than our circumstances—It’s easy to get caught up in the problems we see around us. However, if we make a point to think upon the things of God and His power to overcome all kinds of difficulty, we’ll be able to make wise decisions and live in a manner that honors Him.
Discover the peace that comes with focusing on the sovereignty of God, not the will of man—Don’t be anxious over people’s actions. The Lord has the power to turn day into night, so He can handle all the plans of men. If you spend time considering all the ways in which God is a powerful ruler, you’ll find peace a constant companion.
Start seeing the positive results rather than only noticing personal pain and loss—When we’re hurt, we have a strong desire to nurse our wounds, but the best way to healing is through the observation of and gratitude for God’s blessings amidst our struggles.
Make these steps a conscious part of your prayer life, and even though your circumstances may not change, you will. You may find that is all the change you need.
