It’s difficult to make good choices when you’re hurting, angry, confused, unforgiving, and bitter, but you can. Life is a constant series of choices, and it’s always best to make decisions that line up with the principles of Scripture and fit the purpose and plan of God.

In this message, Dr. Stanley reveals the decisions, both good and bad, a person can make during trying times. Oftentimes, people will decide to:

- leave God out of the tragedy.
- seek answers in the wrong places.
- harbor anger.
- blame another person.

While these choices may be natural, they are not healthy. We need to act purposefully to counteract these very human reactions. Instead we need to:

- believe that God is sovereign.
- trust God in tragedy, even though we don’t understand it.
- believe God will bring something good out of the heartache.
- be thankful for what we have and not dwell on what we’ve lost.
- learn something that will help us as well as others.
- meditate on Scripture rather than feed on the pity others have for us.
- overcome our tragedy through the power of God.

How you respond to tragedy can destroy your faith or strengthen you spiritually. Learn to make the right choices and know that your Heavenly Father will see you through your circumstances.
