The most important and joyous news ever delivered to mankind was the angel’s announcement of Jesus’ birth: “Today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).
In this message, Dr. Stanley helps us recognize that the good news of Jesus’ birth did not indicate the beginning of His life. Rather it announced that the pre-existent Son of God in heaven had come to earth as a child to live among us a tangible image of God. Jesus’s mission was to bring us closer to God. The good news of His birth anticipates His sinless life, which qualified Him to be God’s sacrificial Lamb. His nativity looks ahead to His crucifixion on our behalf and His resurrection, which signaled the Father’s acceptance of Christ’s payment for our sins.
This message is part of the series Good News of Great Joy.
