It's not easy to be a committed follower of Jesus. In fact, He tells us to be disciple makers, meaning that the overflow of His life inside us will make a difference in somebody else's life.
In this sermon, Dr. Stanley explains that there is a degree of pain and suffering that can develop in our true obedience of discipleship to Jesus Christ. Our love and devotion to Him must supersede our love and devotion to all others, even to the point of being painful. Also, since we cannot serve “things” and Christ, we have to be attached to one or the other. There is absolutely no way to lose being obedient to Him.
