Have you ever wondered why God keeps putting up with deliberate, willful sin in our lives— especially after we’ve heard the truth over and over again? Why is God so patient with us?

In this sermon, Dr. Stanley teaches that God is not long-suffering because He sees goodness in us (Romans 2:4-5), but because He wants to see us saved (2 Peter 3:9). Our Father loves us and is patient because of our:

- Ignorance of the truth
- Innate carnality
- Weaknesses
- Immaturity

We can abuse His patience by misinterpreting it, continuing to sin, and taking unintended encouragement from it. But there is a limit to the patience of God. He doesn’t always punish sin immediately, but there will come a time when His patience ends and He will execute His divine discipline.

God is long-suffering—that’s just part of who He is. But He is also righteous and just. While He’s slow to anger, He’s quick to judge at the right time. That’s why His patience should never be taken lightly. How are you responding to His love and patience with you?
