Description
If you had to use one word to describe your relationship to Christ would it be “believer” or “follower”? Most Christians say they believe in Jesus, but unfortunately, many people stop there.
In this sermon, Dr. Stanley explains what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. He teaches that God calls us to:
- Receive Him as our personal Savior.
- See Him as the source of all our needs, be obedient, and develop a relationship with Him.
- Follow Him—not a cause, idea, organization, or principle. It’s about having a personal relationship with the Savior.
Also, Dr. Stanley discusses the requirements of a follower of Christ. We must trust God, obey Him, and
serve the Lord. This means we must deny ourselves and may have to suffer for our dedication to Him. However, the Lord is a God of blessings and rewards. He blesses us with what He knows will satisfy and bring contentment, joy, peace, and happiness in our lives.
If we do not dwell on the past and are not distracted by our old sins and habits—either through temptation or guilt—we will be able to truly be followers of Christ and experience the joys of trusting, obeying, and serving our great God.
