We want to do our best and give our best, but sometimes we just can’t seem to get there. We may even blame God, thinking He won’t answer our prayers in order to punish us for wrongs in the past.
In Why Do I Keep Failing When I Try So Hard?, Dr. Stanley explains that it is not in God’s nature to deny us victory over our circumstances. Instead, because of the choices we make, we have only ourselves to blame for our sin. We want to do what's right … up to a point. But when doing the right thing demands more from us than we are willing to give, we fall to temptation. To stand strong, we need to completely repent of sin and embrace our true identity in Christ. Genuine repentance requires humility before God and a decision to turn from sin. Our victory over sin comes that we acknowledge that Christ lives inside us. We don’t need what He doesn’t want us to have.
